FRS Geotech, Inc. is an environmental optical microscopy laboratory specializing in asbestos and fungal analysis. It is owned by three geologists with over 50 years of combined experience in the analysis of both bulk and air samples, and over 70 years of combined experience in the fields of mineralogy, petrology, mycology and general field geology. We analyze various types of samples for asbestos and mold identification using the following techniques:
--PLM (polarized light microscopy) analysis of asbestos samples.
--Point Count analysis (quantification) of asbestos bulk samples.
--PCM (phase contrast microscopy) analysis of air filter samples.
--ID-160 (OSHA PLM method) for the analysis of air filter samples.
--Optical microscopy characterization of bulk mold samples, and

FRS Geotech, Inc., established in 1993, is a laboratory specializing
in asbestos and mold analyses. It is owned and operated by two
Ph. D. geologists with over 25 years of combined experience in the
analysis of asbestos, and over 50 years of combined experience in
geology mineralogy and microscopy.
FRS Geotech, Inc. comprises a full service optical microscopy
laboratory offering the following analytical services:
· PLM (polarized light microscopy) analysis of bulk samples.
Identification and estimated amount of asbestos minerals present.
Count of fibers present, calculated to fibers per cubic centimeter.
Count of asbestos fibers present, calculated to fibers per cubic centimeter.
air-sampling cassettes. Quantitative list of genera identified, calculated
to spores per cubic meter.
SERVICE AND QUALITY
We are a service-oriented company. It is our goal to provide high
caliber analytical work in a timely fashion.
We understand the value of our client's time. We strive to complete
our analyses on the due date. Normally the final report and invoice
are printed and mailed out the same day that the analysis is performed.
Our QA/QC program was developed through years of experience
in the industry. It is second to none. Our clients are more than
welcome to visit the lab to review the QA/QC program and records
at any time. A complete Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) is available
As questions regarding asbestos or mold analyses may arise long
after an analysis has been done, our data files are kept in perpetuity.
Normally, FRS archives the samples themselves for one year,
but samples will be returned to a client or held longer upon request.
THE ANALYSTS AND OWNERS
All of the analysts at FRS Geotech, Inc. are highly experienced in
optical microscopes and the examination of samples.
· Fritz Fischer is a Ph.D. geologist with experience in the various phases
of asbestos analysis since 1989. Prior to his becoming involved in
asbestos analytical work, Fritz operated Fischer Petrologic, a geological
optical microscopy firm in business since 1983. He worked in the minerals
exploration industry for 5 years, and was a university professor for 8 years.
Fritz is president for FRS Geotech, Inc.
· Dave Schroeder is a Ph.D. geologist, who serves as the Lab Director
for FRS Geotech, Inc. He has been involved in asbestos analytical
work since 1990, and also served as data quality manager in his previous
position at a large asbestos lab. Dave set up and maintains the FRS
computerized database. He is a former university professor.
· Jim Fleming has a B.A. in biology and completed his 20 additional
semester hours in microbiology needed to become the Lab Director
for FRS Geotech as an AIHA EMLAP accredited lab for Fungi Direct
Exam of air samples. He joined the staff in 2004.
· Chris Carbino has an M.S. in Geology. He joined the staff in 2016
as a PLM asbestos analyst and a PCM analyst. Chris brings with him
over 2 years of experience in PLM and PCM asbestos analysis.
